New training for adoption social workers to support trans applicants

Working effectively with transgender and non-binary applicants

Adoption and foster care agencies need to make sure that they welcome transgender and non-binary applicants and work effectively to assess and support them.

What steps can we take to encourage trans people to consider adoption and fostering and value them as a resource? What can we do to make the process more inclusive and less alienating for trans applicants? How important should gender status be as a part of the assessment? How can I make sure I don’t make silly mistakes? What does the law say?

This practical training course explores the full spectrum of gender identities and aims to improve the level of understanding and confidence with which professionals work with trans and non-binary applicants.

With course places costing from £150 per delegate (from a NFS member agency) or £200 per delegate (from a NFS non-member agency) this course will help equip agency staff with the skills they need when working with trans applicants.
