Same-sex couples help relieve strain on adoption system (The Times)

Same-sex couples now play an increasingly significant role in adopting vulnerable children as local authorities struggle to find homes for children in the care system.

Applications for adoption orders by same-sex couples rose by 13 per cent last year, while those from opposite-sex couples fell by 12 per cent, an analysis of family court statistics published by the Department of Justice shows
